If it seems unfair that hell awaits those who reject the good news, we should consider that our emotions are an unreliable guide to truth. We look at the idea of hell from the only perspective we have known: from this temporal world where we have lived for only a few years. We minimize the significance of sin. As Jones observes, “To say that rebellion in God’s kingdom is a big deal is akin to saying that global thermonuclear war is inconvenient.”[1]
